California may soon become the first state in the country to introduce a government-backed certification for foods that meet a defined standard for being non-ultra-processed. If signed into law, AB 2244 would create a third-party certification program that allows qualifying products to carry a state-recognized seal and would require ongoing recertification to maintain that status.
